Then in 2012, we had 2x NH, DL, and 1x UA, AA, JL, KE, SQ, MH (10x daily). Since then, DL, MH, and KE have all cut LAX-NRT, SQ downgauged from a 471 seat A380 to a 264 seat 77W, and AA added LAX-HND on a 772. 2017 has actually seen the least capacity on LAX-TYO for at least the last 15 years. I think NH should have no problem filling the extra frequency, especially since it has added so much connectivity to China and SE Asia in the past 3 years.
So what's the next most likely flight to go? AA LAX-NRT?
We do also have SAN-NRT and LAX-KIX these days, the latter which wasn't around for many years.
I wish NH would spread the schedule out more a bit, for example with an evening departure from NRT. Maybe in the future NH will put the A380 on this route?
