Go ahead and purchase the ticket without seat selection, you will be fine. MU sometimes disable seat selection until -24. You will be auto assigned a seat by then or at checkin.

BTW, MU is China Eastern Airlines. China Airlines = CI, a different airlines. Don't go to the wrong counter at the airport.
