I have no idea why Alaska was considering retiring the 700 anyway. They are the perfect aircraft to start secondary routes with. Some of those long mid-cons could definitely use a upgrade from a 76 seater to a 130 seater. I guess they are now realizing this with Virgin 319's coming online later this year.
