After reading jer's post I have first hand testimotial of what I suspected... EK Y is cramped. And on a long haul, for me it is all about the seat... All the IFE in the world or a meal worth $20 on the ground cannot take away my discomfort.
I flew on an Emirates 777 in Economy from SIN to CMB and found the 10-across seating the worst I have ever experienced. I don't know why EK doesn't just take this trend to its logical conclusion by removing the seats altogether and letting the passengers stand - it would be more comfortable.
I will definitely never fly their 777 in Economy again.
