You wanted a convertible, others wanted a SUV, others a minivan, pick any one and have stood at rental agency counters as someone unloaded on a counter rep saying "I have a guaranteed reservation for "X" vehicle, why don't you have it?".....

Hertz dies guarantee exact cars but it's for their dream collection.

As far as low stock goes I've never gotten into an issue where I walked out because of no cars. I've gotten Audi q5 and a BMW 430i. Voluntary sure but it's better than saying to bad.
