Other comments: Hard to believe that this is the same hotel that Viennafly stayed at but my understanding from a previous recent stay is that if no Club level upgrade is available for Spire you can now choose Club lounge access in lieu of welcome points or drink. However on this occasion we were upgraded anyway so enjoyed the wonderful lounge and its excellent offerings including a very good continental breakfast and evening tapas and drinks. Even during the day there are hot and cold drinks and pastries available. We also received 600 welcome points the day after check-in.
Thanks for the information. Was not aware that Club lounge access is an option besides the points or drink voucher. At checkin (which was after midnight) I was only asked which benefit I wanted without naming the options. Hopefully, I will have a better stay next time.
