The agent who helped me did the same: 4 separate reservations for the 4 free night certs, and one reservation for 3 nights using points.
The problem is that their computer would not allow a reservation with less than 5 nights during President Day weekend. I had to settle for 4 free nights from 02/22 - 02/25, and booked our first 3 nights (02/19-02/21) at a different resort. If the hotel loosens the restriction when it get closer to the travel time, I will call them a gain to modify the booking.
