Mercure London Hyde Park
Mercure London Hyde Park
- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum at the time of this stay (two nights, June 2017)
- Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very. Be aware, however, that this is a Paddington hotel (and very convenient for the station and the Heathrow Express) It's at the back of (and shares a restaurant with) the Hotel Indigo London Paddington, where we had stayed a few weeks earlier. That obviously means that it isn't far from the top end of Hyde Park, but don't choose this property if you want to step out the door onto Knightsbrige or Park Lane.
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
We booked a standard room and did not receive an upgrade, although when I checked later the website showed "Superior" room availability. We've generally been treated well by the group that owns this hotel (and three others nearby, including the Indigo and the Mercure Paddington), so I'm inclined to forgive them this once.
- How are the rooms?
Small but beautifully done. Nespresso machine. Great shower.
- What was good and what was bad?
Good: Friendly reception staff. Lovely location -- convenient but also mostly quiet apart from birdsong.
Bad: An upgrade would have been nice.
- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
We were given a drinks voucher, which we swapped for two (small, bottled) beers.
- Value? Would you return?
Not cheap, but this really is a very nice hotel. Probably the nicest Mercure we've stayed at so far.
