Stay Report - 6/24 - 6/25
Location: The hotel is located on S. West Street (what a dumb name) between Washington and Maryland. From here you can easily walk to Lucas Oil Stadium (the Indianapolis Colts stadium), the Indianapolis Amtrak Station, to the state capitol and governmental buildings and to pretty much everything downtown including a lot of good restaurants. The airport is a $16 Uber ride away.
Hotel:The hotel is a beautiful high rise over 30 stories which is made of beautiful tinted glass. It's a lovely part of the Indianapolis skyline. The lobby has a bar, a sundry store and a couple of acclaimed restaurants. On the second floor is a Starbucks. There's also an executive lounge on the 31st floor.
Check In: In a word, problematic. This is a massive hotel and there were weddings and a convention in town. There was a mass of humanity waiting to check in with no lines or organization and most annoyingly, no elite line. Once I got to an agent it was nice though, she thanked me for my status, told me about the lounge, gave me a free in room movie for being a Gold and was very helpful.
Room: It's definitely a nice room and the size was impressive too. I also enjoyed the huge floor to ceiling windows and views. I did think the decor was more in line with a normal Marriott than a JW, and the bathroom especially was nothing impressive. I was amused to see the same toiletries at JW that Conrad uses.
Lounge: The Executive Lounge is open 6:30 - 9:30 AM on Weekdays for breakfast and 7-11 AM on weekends. Hors D'Oeuvres are from 5:30-7:30 and dessert from 7:30 - 10. The lounge is a little small and becomes crowded easily but the views are to die for. When I was there at 6 PM they had empanadas, spring rolls, hummus, salad and a few nibbles. Not the best spread.
My rate was 30,000 points and it was fun to stay at but as a friend described it, it's a good hotel for Indianapolis, just okay for a JW.
