The seller has sent me a picture of the serial number on the case and it is split out into two sections and it total is 17 digits long. Is there anyother way of confirming authenticity other than taking it into a Rimowa store?

Any help would be appreciated.

You could forward the Ebay Ad to Rimowa and ask them to verify the 17 digit number before you purchase.
