AC311 YUL to YVR Delays
Hi everyone, I was scheduled to fly AC311 from YUL to YVR yesterday but was able to get on standby for an earlier YUL to YVR flight. So the following question is more for my curiosity rather than having any practical use for my current trip (info might be handy when I travel in the future).
I noticed that my original flight was delayed by 5 hours (departure moved from 8:30pm to 1:30am) and had I not been able to get a standby seat I would have been waiting a long time for the flight. I am wondering if I had experienced a 5 hour delay, would I have been eligible for compensation from Air Canada?
I am not sure if the delays were due to weather, technical issues or other factors, but in the lead up to my flight I was taking a look at flight delays on that route and noticed that there was at least three or four times in the last two weeks where the flight was delayed by more than one hour (per flightaware). Just as an added note...per flightaware, when I track the inbound plane it looks like the last few flights for that plane were also delayed so the delay might be a buildup of delays from previous flights...are delays due to this eligible for compensation?
Again this question is more for my curiosity, so any comments would be greatly appreciated. I hope everyone has a great long weekend as well!
