As per Air India, all changes in flights etc. require re-issue of tickets. The ticket was sent to AI-NYC. However AI-NYC issued only the PIT - EWR - BOM only instead of
PIT - EWR - BOM - CCU.

No amount of protestation helped. In the circumstances the PAX had to buy another ticket BOM-CCU?

The questions are:
1. Can Air India do this?
2. What compensation can be claimed against Air India?
3. How to get reimbursements for BOM-CCU ticket?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

It will help if you give some more details. Did your niece purchase the original ticket from AI? What is the carrier on the original Iten from BOM-CCU?
