On a related note I've had a few occasions where a passenger ended up on the wrong flight and had to disembark after the real passenger showed up. Both cases happened departing from a gate adjacent to another with flights to the same destination an hour or less apart (YYZ/YVR). Either the GA messed up, or the BP scanners only check for BP validity, rather than cross checking flight and gate.
