Well, it depends on the customer. Most of us here use credit cards for hotels (as did the OP). Some people (as it gets reported in the news when their bank account balance is depleted) use debit cards. Some people also don't have thousands of extra dollars sitting around for fun.
So say a person was charged double (duplicate charge), and it was on their debit card which means their bank account is decreased, just giving them an arbitrary limit of "whenever" wouldn't work.
I guess the views on this forum are skewed though. Like when someone was saying "mid-range hotel" and someone actually listed a price, and people debated whether $300-350 is considered mid-range.
