A time limit of 24 hours is not reasonable. Although hotels operate 24/7, the person responsible may not be working the next day. Even if the person is working, she or he may need to contact other areas within the hotel to research the issue.
Although other people may disagree, I think that threatening the hotel with a chargeback in the initial request is overkill.
