My two stays: one was in Monterey, CA at an exorbitant rate of $250/nt. It was very nice for an HGI; the other was in Lexington, KY.

HGI Monterey used to be a great hotel especially for Diamonds. I remember a few years back when it opened I would be always upgraded to a suite. The breakfast was superb with fresh berries, nova lox, and perfect omelettes (an omelette with shrimp - no problem!). And the guy ready did know how to cook omelettes !
Over the years the service went down but the price got up. This Spring I stayed there and found to be nothing special (+ additional charge for what used to be free parking). Still better than the nearby Embassy Seaside.
