I had one new pair of HIS jeans as a teenager, I nagged my Mom three years for it. Then in TX we bought Levis in outlet stores, paid around 25 dollars for each pair. Later on I found that the 13.99 Wal-Mart Jeans (produced by Wrangler) fit me way better.

Nowadays I stopped wearing jeans, but I love Khakis, usually resort to GAP sales to get them. I also have the long leg problem, most normal jeans just look plain dumb on me (plus, I look fat in most ,I am already overweight, I dont need clothing add even more weight).

Many of my friends spent between 100-200 Marks (50-150 $ depending on exchange rate) on jeans, for teenagers it was (and still is) a great status symbol.
