I tried to construct an itinerary with >24h stop-overs in ZRH in both directions, but the only website I could get any results was LH.com, and even there I could only get a restricted fare of 7,000e per person. If I enter a multi-city itinerary without <24h stopovers I do get the companion fare to show up.

Are there any tricks to getting one or two free stopovers in ZRH, or did I misinterpret the rules and they are not allowed?
The fare rules say HIP Check applies.
Which means you have to pay higher when you have stopover (if the fare between the stopover point and the destination/departure city is higher than the original fare).

Code:
HIP/MILEAGE EXCEPTIONS

NO HIP OR MILEAGE EXCEPTIONS APPLY.
