Please do forward your experience to EVA so that they can punish the horrible crew.
The bag issue is for safety reasons. EVA is very strict when it comes to these things.
Also, seats with the foldaway TVs all have the same issue during takeoff and landing which is that you can't really see it. Its unfortunate but that was the design they chose.
