At LHR, NZ doesn't provide access for a guest, some other airlines presumably do. Yet NZ DOES provide the equivalent at Australian airports for its *Gold guests, and it works in the US as well.
In the UK airlines pay the airport authority per head for Fast Track and I don't think your *G card issuer compensates for it either. In the US, no such thing exists, there is just a separate line but no fee payable (some people in the US are unhappy that US airlines sell FastTrack but it's just pure revenue for them with no cost). I am not familiar enough with Australia to be able to say how it works there.
