I agree with the previous posts. DXB is a massive airport, and although well signed and plenty of staff to help/direct, it can be intimidating for someone of a nervous disposition.
Just a suggestion. If your in-laws are apprehensive about their transfer and maybe the transfer time might be short, then perhaps consider arranging a Meet & Greet Transfer with Marhaba at DXB. They will meet them at the arrival gate, take them through transfer security and then onto the departure gate.
I used them for my mother (aged 86 who hates flying and gets lost in the local department store) a few years ago and it worked a treat. Cost was negligible for the peace of mind.
