Correct, do it the right way. In America doing it the right way consists of making it so it can be used in most places. It's also about ease of use... I can use my phone at pretty much any terminal in the U.S with the exception of gas pumps and ATM's. I've even used Samsung Pay with those ridiculous restaurant terminals I hate that have the reader built into the side of the screen.

And Apple does create its own products, right down to the processors in their mobile devices.
Apple doesn't make their own screens or their processors. They design their processor(s) and Samsung makes them... Just like how Sony makes their cameras.

A separate account number doesn't make something secure. So far, not one but two security flaws have been found in Samsung Pay, compared to none in Apple Pay.
I don't really care about the low-life in your article. All I care about are the attackers that steal information from the merchant's servers. He needs to find something better to do with his time.

The main reason Apple Pay is more secure is because iOS devices have a secure enclave and nearly all Android devices do not.
... And doesn't work at the majority of merchants.

Nonsense. People assume it's Apple Pay because Apple Pay is more widely used than Android Pay. Samsung Pay works at more locations but that doesn't mean it's used more.
Apple Pay usage is so minimal that I can tell you right now that isn't the reason why people know about it more. You'd have to be pretty ignorant to the American culture to realize why Apple Pay is more well known than Samsung Pay.

If I have the US Bank Altitude Reserve card, I'm using Samsung Pay because I can use it almost anywhere. I get extra rewards on my credit card and rewards from Samsung for using Samsung Pay at the same time.
