Dubai is a very easy airport to transit through. On arrival just follow the signs for transit/transfer. You will go through transfer security. Once you clear security there will be a wall of monitors that show where your next flight is departing from. And there are large signs telling you where to go for which terminal. If you need to change terminals there is a well marked airport train that you can take. Don't worry. Just instruct your family to follow the signs and check the flight monitors periodically.
