can't answer your question, but can tell you I did just that for my trip in October. Was looking at Kuta, but seminyak seemed like the much better option, away from the party scene.

basically, if you are willing to walk 10 minutes or so, it's close to the water, restaurants, bars, etc.

for me, I hate being in the middle of everything, and prefer walking in/out or easy transportation to the madness, if possible.
