I don't disagree with what you had experienced, though I'm unsure why they even need to link the PNRs for baggage check, as it's independent from the BP issuance.

What I meant to say is I've experienced many times where the FFP # was logged and shown on my BP, yet miles weren't credited. So even with "competent" staff who did exactly what they're supposed to, the data that parses through from one airline to another still gets screwed up in the process...
