I'm probably a bit odd in this way: I'm more likely to pay $50+ for a breakfast at a property that really does an outstanding job with it than I am to pay Marriott $20 for a standard buffet.
It's kind of a rare treat for us: generally implies a leisure trip, chilling out on a Sunday with a late checkout. After one of these meals, especially if bottomless bubbly has been flowing, I don't want to do much besides flop by the pool for a few hours!!
On the other 95% of my trips, I'm more in the bagel + soda camp.
