I guess its possible these people with technicolor hair upgraded at the airport and the agent tried to seat them together. Personally, I think Alaska's liberal upgrade policy combined with the Air Marshall program makes the First Class seating pretty random on full flights. Hopefully, the Air Marshalls will now be required to take whatever seat is offered.
Personally, it doesn't bug me too much. After all, when you pick your seats at alaskaair.com, they display your "requested seats" on the confirmation, noting that if those seats become unavailable, the next best will be offered.
