I have an opportunity for a $99 companion fare, PDX to ABQ.

I also have an opportunity to travel with other friends TO Albuquerque in their motor home. If I did NOT use the PDX to ABQ portion of the ticket, would I still be able to use the return portion (flying home with my airfare friend)?
