Fraud on flying club account
I had an unpleasant shock today when i logged into my flying club account
to find that 70000 miles had gone missing overnight.
On 20th June at 11pm i telephoned Virgin flying club to get some prices LHR to Hong Kong later this year.
Agent asked for my flying club number which i gave to him
We went through options and nothing was booked.
I logged into my flying club account tonight ( 22nd June ) 36 HOURS LATER and found my account to be 70000 miles light.
Shocked i immediately telephoned Virgin flying club to report.
Lady was helpful and said she would investigate and call me back within the hour which she did.
It turns out a booking was made with miles from my account from JFK to Nashville on 20th June at 11.50pm which was only half an hour after i spoke to Tthe Virgin telephone agent.
I never authorised this booking or made any kind of enquiry / booking for someone else for this route.
After a long telephone call the Virgin this evening the Virgin agent refunded my 70000 miles and said an internal investigation will take place.
I am 99% confident the agent i spoke to was behind this booking and it was either -
1) Fraud
2) human error
Either way i am surprised how this could happen and that the Virgin agent did not seem at all alarmed.
I have had a stressfull evening sorting this matter out and spent ages on the telephone i am surprised that miles can go missing from my account so easily.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this before ?
