I think bringing a homeless person (stranger) to a room on the spur of a moment is a security risk to the "kind hearted" gentlemen, other guests and the property. They should just pass her money and let her make her own reservation. That way, she gets properly registered and insurance cover is clear.
+1. I would love for my occasional mattress run to have a charitable use, but the risks are just too high. ^ to the hotel for protecting themselves and their guests.
The problem with handing over money is that, sadly, most homeless people would just go buy booze/drugs with it. The UK makes a great effort to get homeless people into shelters; those who refuse are the truly hard cases.
