Exactly. TACA check-in in Honduras (TGU) almost had me miss my flight as they were not familiar with ESTA.
Similarly, checking in with ANA at KIX and flying to China PR, there was a lot of hassle as they were not particularly familiar with transit without visa. I reckon Japanese citizens did / do not need visas for PRC.
In any event, haven't really paid attention to this issue (cockpit announcements) with Indian carriers - most recently flew with 9W and UK last week; recall pilots made announcements re ETA etc. during those flights.
