I'm sure others will back me up, but I can't fathom why Expedia are telling you the flight is managed by Virgin. I don't have much experience with third party sites but as far as I'm aware the only "body" that can handle your booking at this time is Expedia.
Because the OP is expecting "service" from an online TA?
The truth is that the Expedia agents you are talking too are basically a call center and probably don't have a clue how to do this.
