Understanding "Liability Insurance Supplement" and "Loss Damage Waiver"
I am looking at a two-day rental from MCO, I am a UK resident.
On the U.K. site, Liability Insurance Supplement and Loss Damage Waiver show as included in the quote. This is even when I input the discount code 211762 for Amex Platinum chargecard which has additional coverage.
On the U.S. site, they show as:
AVAILABLE OPTIONAL ITEMS AT THE COUNTER
Liability Insurance Supplement daily 15.88 USD
Loss Damage Waiver daily 31.99 USD
Am I right in thinking that these are only optional extras on the U.S. site because most Americans have the necessary coverage through their credit card, whereas most Europeans don't?
How then do American car rental counters get their commission from "normal" Americans? What can I expect to be asked to buy at the counter if my reservation includes Liability Insurance Supplement and Loss Damage Waiver?
Thanks
