Seat selection trouble

I think I'm going for a record in length of time to select a single seat... Decided late Thursday that I wanted to rearrange our seating for an upcoming flight and was unable to do it via the web interface or mobile app as it kept giving an error. After these tries, we all had no seats assigned! So I contacted KLM via Facebook and they were able to change seat assignments for myself and my wife, but they could not assign a seat for our daughter (a child, not infant), so she's still stuck with no seat. I asked for a few updates over the weekend and they're still waiting on the seat department to assign the child seat. So, I tried calling in to the Contact Center today and now the seats are rearranged to how they were when I originally purchased the ticket, except there is still no child seat! Is it just me or does this seem a bit absurd? One would think their customer contact people could override whatever error they are obviously getting, or escalate it to someone who can actually do something about it. I'll be quite unhappy if we can't get the seats that I want in the meantime while they're dawdling. The journey is still a month out, I hope it doesn't take that entire time for them to fix their system.
