If I am staying at an IHG property as part of a group reservation, is it possible to show my IHG card at check in and get points & benefits, or do these not apply when in a group reservation? The group reservation is NOT setup by me - I am only an attendee, if that matters.

This is the first year my group has stayed at an IHG property for this event, so I've never come across this before. Trying to decide if I want to book my room via the group or on my own because of this.
