AlaskaAir.com 4 segment limitations

I've found that it's possible to get alaskaair.com to build itineraries that include more than 4 segments. You can generate an itinerary that includes more than 4 segments, get a valid price and select seats.

However when you go to purchase the ticket the web site chokes with a -1530 error and tells you the itinerary cannot be purchased online and to call reservations to complete the purchase.

OK ... so when you call reservations they'll tell you they can issue a paper ticket for the itinerary at no charge (because paper is forced in this case), however they can't sell you the itinerary at the price quoted online if it's a web special because it must be purchased online. Good grief ... what a catch-22. Doesn't Alaska have anyway around this?

I found that Travelocity has the AS web special fares as well and permits more than 4 segments in an itinerary. However more than 4 segments mixed on AS/QX forces a paper ticket and travelocity no longer will issue a paper ticket for travel less than 7 days out.

Orbitz has the AS specials and will allow more than 4 AS/QX segments on them. Paper is still required and Orbitz charges FedEx fees of $20 along with their own $5 fee.

Any other options?
