I called in again and was told again that transfers from SPG to Marriott do count as activity for Marriott rewards..and this is consistent with what the Marriott account website shows. I transferred points on 5/17/17 and my account page states:
"Your account will remain active and points won’t expire as long as you stay or use some of your points by 05/17/19."
I will take a screen shot just in case.
If you read the thread linked in post#6, you will find that despite the fact that it says the above on Marriott's website, points in fact do expire and the terms and conditions for Marriott Rewards state that this does NOT count as activity.
