I don't travel as much from PHL any more since I moved away - basically only when I'm in town to visit family. But I've noticed that most of what I'll call 3rd parties working the airport (to me meaning anyone not wearing an Airline, Police, TSA, or CBP uniform) are a little aggressive and mouthy. I either just ignore them and walk right past them, or I stop and say something to them (particularly if they're being rude to my wife, daughter, random old folks or foreigners).
If they'd like, they can call the police over, but the average traveler doesn't know that they have no actual authority. I don't need to be yelled at if I'm already following the rules.
