Since AAs T&Cs say different, its useless what you were told Unless they put a note onto the PNR that all 9 will get their 1st bag free. W/o that note dont expect anyone but you to get the 1 bag free, could be the person you spoke with didnt know AAs policy that group bookings are excluded
