Similar to JFK-Vancouver route this Taipei stop-over isn't design to fly Hong Kong flyers to FUK via Taipei, but an attempt to maximize on the number of Taiwan Passengers going north to FUK and south to HKG. It was a route that identify Cathay's aggressive mentality to gain more Taiwan residents as their frequent flyers. The discontinuation of this route speaks volumes to the fact that despite years of heavy discounted fares in-out TPE, the Taiwan residents are still favoring their local brands of CI and Eva.
