On the other hand, they have now taken my seat away, and my mobile BP just says "See Agent". The flight is close to sold out - every class is marked as full, and the seatmap shows no open seats in business, and only a few in economy and PE. However, the seatmap on UA and on EF still shows all but two of the F seats as open.

Has anyone seen this before? I admit I am concerned, and will get to the airport early to see if I can get it worked out. I am on a paid business class ticket purchased months ago and 1K, so I'm hoping I would be low on the list to be downgraded, but I don't think you can take anything for granted. I'd love an op-up to F, but I will plan for worst case scenario. I may look up some backups with connections just in case.
As a 1K on a paid business ticket, you have a pretty decent shot at being assigned a seat in the F cabin. I would be less concerned about a downgrade, but concern about seat assignment in J is valid.

Getting to airport a little early would be a good idea.
