Same flight I see no issue with. Same airline but different flight without elite status you could get a comment that "next time this line is only for those passengers flying with you", especially if the lines are long for premium cabins. And the Check-in agent would be right in doing so in my opinion. If you're not an elite and the person is on a different flight I wouldn't do this at all.
