The best person to answer that question for you is the employee who provided you w/ the pdf copy/explore rate discount.

It's been a few years since I stayed on the family/friends rate. If the explore rate is similar (or is the same thing), you can print out the pdf for the various hotels you'll be staying at w/ that rate - aka, it's good for more than one use. You will be required to hand over a copy at check-in for each hotel. Also, there's usually a timeline on them (need to be used w/in x amount of days from issuance, so you don't want to get authorization & then not use it for 4 months). Presumably if there's a # on the cert they can track the usage of where it was used at, as well as the employee who requested it/got it authorized. But again, things might have changed since I used the family/friends rate as it's been 5 years.
