I am still not entirely clear by what they mean when they say that "US flights generate about 30% of Alitalia's overall revenues". Perhaps they mean net positive revenues, in which case that sounds somewhat more believable, viz.: we set aside loss-making activities; we calculate the net revenue on those activities which are not loss-making and we calculate the proportion of that positive net revenue which is attributable to US traffic.
In any event, regardless of the specific figures, the point, which is surely the main one, is that US traffic is crucial to the survival of AZ.
