Unfortunately, you must show a government issued photo I.D. so one the airlines issued would be useless. They may have used your idea to come up with the lanyard that they've sent out though -
This lanyard is proving to be more popular than I gave them credit for - good move on Alaska's part I guess. I'll be looking for those wearing them on my next flight.
