Being a 2 million miler, I have to admit that the food in UA economy class is the worst I have ever seen among all other airlines. I tried my best to avoid sitting in UA Y cabin at all costs, especially long haul transpacific flights. If I found out I ran out of GPU or if had to sit in Y cabin, I would for sure book the code share ANA flights all the way or some other airlines instead of UA metals.

Lucky me that in my 20+ years of intensive traveling, I had very few UA long haul Y class experience but the the bad memories I had in UA Y class are truly "unforgettable" because of the garbage meals served by the flight attendants with very sick attitude! I still remember clearly how the inedible garbage food looks like! One time they served vegetable fried rice for the whole Y cabin on 744 SFO-HKG flight, there wasn't even any other alternatives. The fried rice was dry and hard and the veges were spoiled or rotten, even starvation army wouldn't serve that kind of food to refugees!

For those who have no chance for upgrade or for getting on C cabin, I always puzzle why they have to get stuck with UA and to eat the garbage food served by the grumpy UA flight attendants with attitude. Maybe they just love to be tortured!
