I was told, this would only be charged if I cleared the standby list. I was then charged, despite flying my original 10 pm flight vs a 4 or 6 or whatever it was.
Everything about AA feels super budget.
1) The fact this fee was erroneously charged in the first place
2) the misinformation from AA's folks at DFW, that it would only be charged when I clear
3) the fact I even have to pay a $75 fee to standby
4) calling the AA #, and being asked to fill out a web-based form with ticket #
5) the segments not showing up on my AAdvantage history or whatever, with the aforementioned ticket #s
Would you rather they didnt allow you to change except via normal rebooking, paying then current fare? Outside the US most airlines dont allow you to standby for another flight and confirmed just means being rebooked and paying for it.
Legit gripe on #1/2. The rest were lucky to still have as an option with AA.
