Food on UA is absolutely disgusting, even in Biz and more often than not, in First - I can only imagine what it's like in Y.

I try to use NH - the airline which I can say that I'm actually "excited" and look forward to their Japanese Bento option - especially when flying out of Narita/Haneda. Flying out of SFO/SJC/ORD (NH 7/171/11) the three I use most, the food is just okay (that's because it is prepared by non-Japanese), but still light years ahead of UA.

That being said, living in Hong Kong for 5 years gave me the opportunity to use CX a lot, especially going to Europe. Surprisingly, their offering (in Biz) is actually on par with UA and sometimes even worse! It didn't help that I got to tour their catering facilities (my partner was also a Diamond with CX and got an invitation) seeing behind the scene really makes you want to avoid airline food, any airline, at all cost! (Except for their First Class - their food is prepared separately, not disgustingly en masse)
