It varies. In my experience the home/visiting side thing is not a big deal UNLESS you're sitting in the outfield stands then the cheering sections are quite segregated.

Otherwise, if you're just going to root for the home team, you're pretty much fine to do that anywhere else in the stadium, though you might end up in a section with a lot of away fans.
