I finally flew this route 2 weeks ago.
The flight was a mess out of JFK. The gate agent mentioned that the flight would be delayed atleast an hour without offering any explanation and told people to come back to the gate later. However, 10 mins later, the gate agent mentioned something only in Spanish, and people started rushing to the gate to board. It was handled poorly.
On the flight, I felt like a second class citizen. The lady next to me got excellent service in Spanish, but I felt like I was ignored. I had to flag them down several times, and it was pretty hard to get their attention. No pisco sour. No printed menu offered. The food was fine though, and I ended up sleeping for 5 hours which was great. When we were landing, a male flight attendant picked up my backpack to store in the overhead compartment, and a water bottled slipped out from the side pouch (which is to hold a water bottle) and hit the lady sitting next to me in the head. The male flight attendant profusely apologized to the lady next to me, turned to me, and then scolded me that I should not have put that water bottle in the pouch as if it was my fault. I was pissed because that even made me feel like a second class citizen.
On the way back, service was somewhat better, but the flight had to turn back an hour and a half in the air.... which ruined the end of my trip.
Ironically, my LIM to MIA on the old 767 had by far the best service. The seats were narrow and old, but the length was nicer than the seat in the 787. The FAs were warm and accomodating.
Overall, a very mixed experience. I actually thought the overall products were fine (food, drinks, and seats). Too bad the FAs aren't very nice.
